Advocacy............ giving aid to a cause-active verbal support for a cause or position.
The Alabama Reading Association (ARA) advocates literacy for every citizen of Alabama. The ARA aligns itself with the International Reading Association's position of promoting literacy through professional development, partnerships, research, literacy development, and advocacy. It is only through advocacy and the active participation and cooperation of its citizenry can the State of Alabama hope to meet the educational needs of its students and promote the high standards of educational excellence they deserve.
